Te Uri Taniwha
 
This modern Patu Onewa is made of granite and was traditionally used by various hapū within the Taiamai region of Northland for close combat.  
 
Treasured as a taonga and handed down to their descendants for future generations.
 
Like Hīneira Mere,  Te Uri Taniwha symbolises a person's strength, courage, skills, protection and overcoming life's challenges.
