Kotiate - In honour of Bill Smith

This exclusive Kotiate range is dedicated to the memory of the late Bill Smith in recognition of his mahi.  Ngā mihi aroha to his beautiful wife Donna Maree Taonga.  Bill, a traditional Master Whakairo Carver.

Kotiate - one of the most highly recognised close-combat weapons in Māori warfare. Traditionally made from whale bone, Aotearoa NZ native hardwood, or Onewa stone. The distinctive notches were designed to create a ripping action against an opponent in battle and were favoured by the Rangatira Chiefs as their primary weapon.

In the modern context, the Kotiate is a highly personal taonga.  Passed down to descendants as a family heirloom.

Eight Kotiate have been created exclusively for this offer.   No more of this Kotiate design will be available again.
